Something Simple

Serves 2

Masala Pappadums

What you need:

  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 potatoes, peeled, boiled and chopped
  • 1 large tomato, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon roasted cumin seeds, crushed*
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 4 ready-cooked pappadums

What you do:

  • Mix all the ingredients (except the pappadums) together in a bowl.
  • Put the pappadums out on plates and divide your mixture between them, putting a spoonful on each pappadum at a time. Serve immediately so that they don't go soggy.

* To roast your cumin seeds, heat them in a dry frying pan until they start to go dark. You can then crush them with the back of a spoon.

Remember: Always ask an adult before you start cooking. Take care when using knives and hot cookers. Wash your hands before you start cooking and after handling spices.
